• The company's principals are former partners in two of Florida’s most prestigious law firms. One served as a public affairs executive with a Fortune 100 corporation, focusing on government relations. Another serves the community in a variety of capacities, including serving on the national Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America and the Florida State University System Board of Governors. One is a Past President of BusinessForce, another is the current President. In combination they are pillars of our community and the foundation of the Edge Public Affairs team.
  • Tico Perez is co-founder of Edge Public Affairs. Tico serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida where he serves as the chairman of the Budget Committee and Vice Chairman of the Facilities Committee. He is also a member of the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America and was recently selected to serve as the National Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America.

  • Tico is very active in his community and has served on more than forty business and community boards over the last several years. He has served as chair of countless fundraising events, including the American Heart Association Heart Walk (twice), the Juvenile Diabetes Association Walk, and the March of Dimes Walk to name a few. His community service has been profiled in the Orlando Sentinel, the Orlando Business Journal, the Weekly, and numerous other local and regional publications.
  • Tico is the Past President of the Orlando Utilities Commission, Past President of the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce, Past President of United Arts of Central Florida, Past Chairman of the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, Past President of the University of Central Florida Alumni Association and is also Past President of the Southern Region for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a political analyst for the local NBC affiliate, WESH Channel 2, is a weekly political commentator on the nationally syndicated Daily Buzz and hosts his own political talk radio show, Talkin' with Tico, on Cox radio's newstalk AM 580 WDBO. Additionally, Tico has a regular weekly television program in Spanish on the local Telemundo affiliate in Central Florida entitled TeleNoticiasExtra.
  • An Eagle Scout, Tico has been recognized by the Boy Scouts of America with the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo and Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. The Order of the Arrow has awarded him the Distinguished Service Award and the Sigma Chi Fraternity has recognized him as a “Significant Sig”. He was recognized by the University of Central Florida as the Distinguished Alumnus in 1998, and he has received numerous leadership and community service awards.
  • Tico has been named one of the 10 most influential men in Central Florida by the Orlando Business Journal and one of the 174 most influential people in Florida by Florida Trend Magazine and one of the 25 most influential Hispanics by Ahora Magazine.
  • Tico received his BA in political science from the University of Central Florida in 1983 and his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1986. Prior to founding Edge Public Affairs, Tico was a partner of the national law firm Baker and Hostetler, where he practiced Business law with a specialization in mergers and acquisitions and was a member of the Government Relations Group. Tico is an “AV” rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell.
  • Tico's hobbies are collecting Boy Scout memorabilia and politics. Tico is married to Donna Perez and they live in Downtown Orlando.
  • Derek Bruce is a native Floridian and was raised in Orlando. He obtained his B.S., law degree and M.B.A. from the University of Florida. Licensed since 1998, Derek is an "AV" rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as one of the area’s “40 Under Forty.” Prior to founding Edge Public Affairs with Tico Perez, Derek worked as Director of Government Relations for Walt Disney World Co., overseeing the company's statewide and local government strategies and outreach efforts. Before joining the Disney team, Derek was a partner in the statewide law firm, GrayRobinson, practicing in the areas of government law and business litigation.

  • Bruce has successfully represented clients in land use and procurement matters in front of cities and counties throughout Central Florida, as well as advocating for large companies and local governments before the Florida legislature and executive branch organizations. In the course of this work, Derek has developed strong relationships with decision makers in state and local government, along with a deep understanding of how governments operate.
  • Derek is active in the community, serving as Chair of BusinessForce, Florida’s largest regional political action committee, and Chair of the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s East Central Florida Regional Leadership Council. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation, Leadership Florida, the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce, the Seminole Community College Foundation and the Community Foundation of Central Florida. Derek was previously a member of the boards of the Orlando Marine Institute, Frederick Leadership Initiative and the Metropolitan Orlando Urban League.
  • Derek lives in Orlando and, in his free time, enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife, Penny, and their three children.
  • Jeff Jonasen is the newest addition to the Edge Public Affairs team, having joined Edge in January 2010. Jeff previously practiced law for 15 years in the Orlando office of the national law firm, Baker Hostetler. He was a partner in the firm's business group, where he handled acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings, financings and other domestic and international business transactions for small start-up companies in emerging technology fields, established medium-sized companies, charities and community organizations, and large FORTUNE 500 companies. Jeff is an “AV” rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell.

  • Jeff was also responsible for Baker Hostetler’s local and state government relations practice in the Orlando office, representing the interests of clients in the legislative process and in regulatory matters. He has worked with clients to develop government relations strategies, and he has appeared as an advocate before local government task forces, city councils, county commissions, state agencies and committees of the Florida Legislature. Jeff’s community and political activities have enabled him to develop relationships with numerous elected and appointed government officials. He has also led political campaigns and political action committees, and he has experience in the area of campaign finance and ethics laws and regulations.
  • Jeff’s current community involvement includes serving as the president of the University of Florida Alumni Association and as chair-elect of the Central Florida Partnership. He has served as a vice chair and on the Board of Governors of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is the past chairman of BusinessForce, the Partnership’s political action committee. He has chaired the Leadership Orlando Alumni program, and is a graduate of Leadership Florida. Jeff has also been very involved in the leadership of the Boy Scouts of America at the local, regional and national levels. He is the past president of the Central Florida Council of the Boy Scouts and the council’s current vice president of endowment; additionally, he is a member of the Southern Region executive board and the national council of the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Jeff earned his B.S. in Business Administration and law degree from the University of Florida. A former student body president at the university, he is a life member of the UF Alumni Association and a member of the university’s Hall of Fame. Jeff lives in west Orange County on land that has been his family’s for more than 100 years.
  • Don Madden brings a wealth of real world experience to his position as a Senior Associate at Edge Public Affairs LLC. He started his career practicing law in California before coming to Central Florida as corporate counsel to International Assets Advisory Corporation, a NASDAQ traded firm. He is an inactive member of both the California and Florida State Bar Associations.

  • His private sector experience includes a stint as President and COO of successful banking software consulting firm, working with Chase Manhattan Mortgage Company in Columbus, Ohio, The Dime Savings Bank in New York among others. He was president of a direct response publishing company; and co-owner of a production company specializing in high end marketing materials, interactive programming and broadcast Infomercials, in English and Spanish.
  • In the public arena Don recently served as Chief Public Information Officer for Osceola County Government, where he was responsible for all aspects of community and media relations. In a county with a 45% Hispanic population Don’s ability to function in English and Spanish was a major asset, especially during hurricane season.
  • Among his favorite credits he lists a year spent as creative consultant to a Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey travelling theme park project (“Cosmic Journey”) where he worked with Alan Bean, Pete Conrad and Gene Cernan, three of the astronauts who stood on the moon in the 20th century. An autographed artist’s proof of the painting “Helping Hands” by Alan Bean (featuring Pete Conrad and Alan on the moon) hangs in his office as a treasured keepsake.
  • As co-owner of Liskin, Madden & Associates (LMA) he was a pioneer in the interactive video field, producing the first-ever interactive project for NCR Corporation, and working with companies like JC Penney and Martin Marietta Aerospace with a technology that morphed into the CD-ROM industry. He has traveled from Vancouver to Ecuador with camera crews producing, writing, and directing high-end marketing projects, with nine broadcast Infomercial credits, including two in Spanish, as producer, writer and director.
  • Don has been an active participant in local, state and national political campaigns, serving as Orange County volunteer coordinator for Bush/Cheney in 2004, and the McCollum for Governor Campaign of 2010.
  • Don has a twenty–nine year investment in the Central Florida community. He has served on the Bishop Moore High School Board of Education for 9 years (President 1993) and as Trustee Emeritus helped form the school’s Endowment and Charitable Trust (President 1995). He has served on the Board of the Christian Service Center and been recognized with a Humanitarian Award by Orange County for his years of service to at-risk youth as Director of an all-volunteer tutoring/mentoring program called Outreach Love. He is a graduate of Leadership Osceola County (class representative and alumni of the year nominee); and recipient of one of UCF’s National Society of Collegiate Scholars Distinguished Member Awards for 2006.
